Stern School of Business

Sosnoff Lounge

This lounge is the most visible of all spaces in the graduate school of business. People passing along West 4th Street and those gathered in Gould Plaza look in through the large windows. It is located on the ground floor, adjacent to the main lobby, and presents the up-to-date, professional face of the Stern School of Business to the outside world.

The color of natural materials, such as hardwoods and slate flooring give the space an inviting appearance. Light fixtures suspended from the high ceilings suggest intimacy in a large room. And tensile, stainless screens separate the hard-edged food service area from the softer, brighter, more-colorful lounge.

This project was performed in association with Helfand Architects of New York City.
